HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime: self-powered 6.5-inch speakers with a ribbon tweeter

HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime is a pair of active 2-way bookshelf speakers, so the amplifiers are inside the cabinets. Each speaker has a 6.5-inch metal woofer and an isodynamic ribbon tweeter. HiVi-Swans lists 300 W RMS in total (120 W for each woofer and 30 W for each tweeter), a 3.0 kHz DSP crossover and a response of 38 Hz to 40 kHz. Inputs are Bluetooth 5.0, optical, coaxial, balanced XLR and an RCA line input, which covers a TV, a PC, a streamer or a turntable preamp. The speakers come in black and white, and the Amazon button on this page opens the black pair (ASIN B0GSZNJX5H).

The specifications come from the HiVi-Swans listing on Amazon. The listening notes come from the Z Reviews video of July 2026, which is in the Video Review tab. Z Reviews received the pair from HiVi-Swans, and we have not tested it ourselves.

Why buy the Dazzle Prime

  • Nothing else to buy. The amplifiers, the DSP crossover and the Bluetooth receiver are built in, and a remote comes in the box. Z Reviews lists an optical cable, a coaxial cable, a 3.5 mm to RCA cable and a power cord as well.
  • A ribbon tweeter with fine detail. The Z Reviews reviewer calls it the best of the ribbon tweeters he has seen on HiVi-Swans speakers. He describes a very fine mesh in front of a delicate ribbon, and he could not say whether he prefers it to the flat panel tweeters of the HiVi-Swans M300MKII.
  • Tone knobs that act on the whole sound. The specification says bass and treble can each move by 3 dB. Z Reviews found that the knobs are DSP controls: fully down the speakers are clean and linear like studio monitors, at the middle they sound like good consumer speakers, and fully up he liked them most.
  • Desk and stand modes. A rear switch trims the bass for near-field listening on a desk and opens it up for placement on stands.
  • Useful bass for the size. HiVi-Swans quotes 38 Hz. Z Reviews ran the pair for days with his subwoofer switched off and did not miss it, although he says they do not reach the bass of the more expensive M300 Mark II.

Who it’s for

Buy the Dazzle Prime if you want one pair for a desk or a living room and your sources are digital. A TV, a PC or a streamer such as the WiiM Ultra (optical and coaxial outputs) can feed the optical or coaxial input directly. A DAC or preamp with balanced outputs, for example the Eversolo DAC Z10 or the Fosi Audio S3 (XLR outputs), can use the XLR input. If you want passive speakers and your own amplifier, look at the HiVi-Swans D3.1 MKII or the HiVi-Swans Oasis 140 instead.

Who should skip it

Skip it if you need HDMI ARC, a subwoofer output or built-in streaming, because the Dazzle Prime has none of them. The HiVi-Swans M300MKII and the HiVi-Swans H6 add Wi-Fi to an active design. All inputs sit on one master speaker and there is no switch to choose the left channel, so the master has to stand on the side where the cables arrive. The speakers are large and heavy (8.78 x 14.13 x 11.81 inches each), so they need a solid desk or stands. For a small desk the HiVi-Swans OS-10 is the compact active option in our catalog.

Placement and setup

The second speaker connects with a four-conductor screw-in cable. Z Reviews notes that a wide room may need an extension. Put the speakers at ear height, because he found that a TV is easier to follow when the sound arrives at face level. Set the rear switch to desk or stand, then start with the tone knobs in the middle and move them to taste.

Where to buy

The Amazon button on this page opens the black pair (ASIN B0GSZNJX5H). The white pair is a separate Amazon listing. Z Reviews quoted $750 for both finishes in July 2026, and that is the price shown on this page. Amazon prices change often and can differ by finish, so check the live price before you order. The product page also has an eBay search link.

HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime questions and answers

Does the HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime need an external amplifier?

No. It is an active speaker pair with built-in amplifiers: HiVi-Swans lists 120 W RMS for each woofer and 30 W RMS for each tweeter, 300 W RMS in total. You only need a source such as a TV, PC, streamer or turntable preamp.

Which inputs does the Dazzle Prime have?

Bluetooth 5.0, optical, coaxial, balanced XLR and an analog line input (RCA). Z Reviews also lists a 3.5 mm auxiliary input and says all inputs sit on one master speaker.

Does the Dazzle Prime have HDMI ARC or a subwoofer output?

No. Z Reviews points out that there is no HDMI ARC input and no subwoofer output, and that the speakers do not stream on their own. With a TV, use the optical or coaxial output.

How do the bass and treble knobs work?

HiVi-Swans specifies plus or minus 3 dB for each. Z Reviews found that, because the speaker is DSP based, the knobs change the whole character: all the way down sounds clean and linear like a studio monitor, and higher settings sound fuller.

Can I choose which speaker is the left one?

Not with a switch. The inputs are on one master speaker, so its position decides the channel. Z Reviews says that if you need the master on the right you must swap the channels at the source, and that this is not possible over Bluetooth.

How much does the HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime cost?

Z Reviews quoted $750 per pair for both the black and the white finish in July 2026. Amazon prices change often and can differ by finish, so check the live price on Amazon before you order.

Is the Dazzle Prime the same speaker as the HiVi-Swans D300+?

Z Reviews reports that the HiVi-Swans website lists this speaker as the D300+. The Amazon version is sold under the Dazzle Prime name.

Editorial summary of the one independent review we could find of the HiVi-Swans Dazzle Prime, the Z Reviews video of July 11, 2026 (37 minutes, read from its speech-recognition captions), and of the public Amazon listing (5.0 out of 5 from 4 ratings, checked October 26, 2026). The speaker is new, so long-term owner threads do not exist yet. Z Reviews received the pair from HiVi-Swans. These are aggregated themes, not copied text.

What the reviewer praises

  • The ribbon tweeter. Z Reviews says the tweeter is better than the other ribbon tweeters he has seen on HiVi-Swans speakers, and he calls the Dazzle Prime among the most delicate speakers the company has made. He could not say whether he likes it more than the flat panel tweeters of the HiVi-Swans M300MKII.
  • Clean sound with the knobs down. With bass and treble fully down he describes the speakers as clean, accurate and linear, close to studio monitors, and says he respects them.
  • A fuller sound with the knobs up. At the halfway point he says he would buy them, and at the maximum he says the music is enhanced. He explains that the knobs are DSP controls that change the whole profile of the speaker, not only the bass and treble.
  • Bass for the size. HiVi-Swans quotes 38 Hz, and he ran the pair for a couple of days without his subwoofer and did not miss it.
  • Desk and stand switch. He finds the switch sensible: desk mode lowers the bass because you sit close, and stand mode opens it up.
  • Build and looks. He likes the design and calls the speakers heavy and chunky. The base looks like wood but is not real wood. The listing adds that a colour-coded logo light shows the active input.
  • Inputs and accessories. Coaxial, optical, auxiliary, Bluetooth and balanced inputs are all present, and the box holds an optical cable, a coaxial cable, a thick 3.5 mm to RCA cable and a power cord.

Common use cases

  • A desk system fed by a PC over optical or coaxial, with the switch on desk mode. Our HiVi-Swans OS-10 is the smaller active speaker if the desk is tight.
  • A living-room pair for a TV with an optical output. Z Reviews placed his on tall stands and kept them high so voices arrive at face level.
  • A streaming setup with a WiiM Ultra (it has optical and coaxial outputs) or a Fosi Audio S3 (balanced XLR and RCA pre-outs).
  • A balanced chain with a DAC or preamp such as the Eversolo DAC Z10 (XLR and RCA outputs, variable preamp mode) or the Topping E30 II (RCA preamp output).
  • Casual listening over Bluetooth 5.0 from a phone.

Common critical notes

  • No HDMI ARC. The reviewer says the speakers lack HDMI ARC. He reports that the maker told him adding it costs about $70 per unit, and that it may come on later models.
  • No subwoofer output. A subwoofer is hard to integrate over the digital inputs, and with analog inputs the volume control sits on the speakers and not on the subwoofer.
  • No master speaker switch. All inputs sit on one speaker and nothing assigns it to the left or the right. With the master on the right, a PC needs the channels swapped in the player, and Bluetooth stays reversed.
  • No streaming. The Dazzle Prime does not act as a smart hub. For Wi-Fi look at the HiVi-Swans M300MKII or the HiVi-Swans H6.
  • Analog inputs go through a converter. The speakers are digitally powered, so RCA, auxiliary and XLR signals are converted to digital first. The reviewer trusts modern converters but notes the extra step.
  • The remote. He finds it mediocre, with offset lettering and the volume keys at the bottom.
  • Price and bass. At about $750 he says the bass is not as good as the more expensive M300 Mark II, and the number of units in stock on Amazon was small, especially in white.

Pairings that fit on paper

  • Optical or coaxial: a TV, a PC, the WiiM Ultra or any streamer with a digital output.
  • Balanced XLR: the Fosi Audio S3 (balanced XLR pre-out) or the Eversolo DAC Z10 (fully balanced XLR outputs).
  • RCA line input: the Topping E30 II with its variable-volume RCA output, or a turntable preamp.
  • Bluetooth: any phone or laptop, with the convenience limit that the master speaker decides left and right.
  • We have not heard these combinations with the Dazzle Prime. They match the inputs and outputs listed on the product pages.

Recommended setup workflow

  1. Decide where the master speaker, the one with all inputs, will stand. Its position decides the left channel, so put it on the side where your source is.
  2. Place both speakers on a solid desk or on stands at ear height. They are large and heavy.
  3. Connect the second speaker with the screw-in cable and use an extension if the room is wide.
  4. Choose digital inputs (optical or coaxial) when you can, so the signal stays digital up to the amplifiers.
  5. Set the rear switch to desk or stand mode.
  6. Start with the bass and treble knobs in the middle, then move them up or down. Remember that they change the whole character of the speaker.
  7. If you want a subwoofer, plan it from the source side, because the speakers have no subwoofer output.

Overall verdict from the review: the Dazzle Prime earns its praise for the ribbon tweeter, the flexible tone control and the full set of inputs, and the drawbacks are the missing HDMI ARC, subwoofer output and master switch. Skip it if you want Wi-Fi streaming and look at the HiVi-Swans M300MKII or the HiVi-Swans H6. Choose passive speakers and your own amplifier if you prefer, for example the HiVi-Swans D3.1 MKII.
