48V Power Supply (for TPA3255 amps)
The 48V power supply is the rail voltage that lets TPA3255 amplifiers reach their full rated power. Most budget TPA3255 amps ship with a small 48V 5A brick. Upgrading to a 10A GaN or high-quality linear supply gives more dynamic headroom, lower noise, and better bass control.
The TPA3255 chip needs a 48V DC power supply to deliver its full rated power. The included power brick with most TPA3255 amps is typically rated 48V at 5A (240W) — enough for normal listening but limits the amp’s dynamic headroom.
Why upgrade the PSU?
- More current available for bass transients — a 10A supply provides 480W of headroom vs 240W stock
- Lower noise floor — better regulation, less ripple
- Less audible strain at higher volumes on demanding speakers
Two upgrade paths
Linear power supply

Do you need to upgrade?
The stock 48V 5A supply is fine for typical apartment listening on efficient bookshelves. Consider upgrading if you: run demanding low-sensitivity speakers, listen at high volumes, want maximum dynamic headroom, or hear noise from the stock switching supply.
