X-over is a common shorthand notation for crossover. Appears in speaker specs, receiver menus, and DSP software UIs where screen space is limited.
Common X-over contexts
- Speaker X-over frequency – the crossover point between woofer and tweeter in a speaker’s internal filter
- Sub X-over – the point at which frequencies split between main speakers and subwoofer
- X-over slope – how sharply the filter attenuates outside the passband (measured in dB/octave: -6, -12, -18, -24, -48)
